The District School Board of Collier County in Florida is adopting a learning management system in an effort to move educational materials (such as lessons and class notes) away from paper and into electronic formats.

Internships Help Prepare Future Online Teachers

To help meet this need, the Florida Virtual School (FLVS) is teaming up with area colleges to pair teachers-in-training with its online instructors in a first-of-its-kind internship program.

One of the main uses for the online courses is for students seeking to earn college credits. Through the Virtual School, students can take courses that aren’t offered in Somerset.

Thousands of valley children head back to the classroom on Monday, but for a growing number of Nevada students, that trek takes them no farther than their own living room. Thanks to the internet and new online learning programs, the mystery and stigma surrounding home-school is quickly disappearing.

Until recently, parents choosing to home school their children felt isolated — alone not only in their belief that it would be a better choice for their family, but also because there were precious few resources to help them. But that’s not the case anymore.
